Alaska consistently ranks among the states with the highest rates of domestic violence homicides. Approximately 58% of Alaskan women experience DV/SA in their lifetime. In many cases, victims' deaths are staged to look like suicides or accidents, allowing perpetrators to escape justice. Families are left without answers, and systemic failures continue. By implementing a law like California's SB 989 (Joanna's plan Law), Alaska can create protocols to prevent these hidden homicides.
